St Columbus Falls

Water leaps over Saint Columba Falls, one of Tasmania’s tallest falls at 90 meters, at an average rate of 42,000 litres per minute. Or in winter, it can exceed 200,000 litres per minute, showering visitors in mist and spray. A few tree ferns rise out of the rocks next to the falls to complete the rainforest scene.

Mount Paris Dam

Mount Paris Dam

A breathtaking sight. Hidden among the ferns and reclaiming forest, you’ll find the heritage listed Mount Paris Dam. Construction of the dam began in 1935 and was completed less than a year later, in 1936. It was previously referred to as the Morning Star Dam. The dam is the only one of buttress and slab construction in Tasmania, and one of just a handful of such structures in Australia.
